“Cracking the Genetic Code of Safety Excellence”
FACT: The
genetic make-up ninety-nine (99%) of all human beings is exactly
the same…and, the overall genetic makeup of the human species
differs from that of the Chimpanzee by only 2%. What a
difference this ‘minute variation’ makes! It’s called DNA, the
molecule of life, and it contains the individual genetic code
that determines our personal uniqueness, ability to replicate,
and ultimately, our ability to survive…and that difference is
huge!
In 2003, research
scientists made history by unraveling the double helix
deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) molecule containing all human genes, and
mapping the complete human DNA sequence responsible for the
development, functioning, and replication of a human life…our
individual genetic code.
And, just as all humans have a unique genetic code, so to do all
business organizations. Each business entity has it’s own unique
‘DNA profile’, some times referred to as ‘culture’, which guides
it’s formation, capability ability to accomplish its mission…and
ultimately determines its sustainability. Similar in form,
organizational DNA is also of a ‘double helix’ construction. On one
strand of its organizational life molecule are its key ‘management’
skills: Planning, Organizing, Directing, Controlling, and
monitoring, and on the other, its critical ‘leadership’ attributes:
Envisioning, Engaging, Enabling, Empowering, and Energizing.
This seminar explores
the DNA OF SAFETY EXCELLENCE, the seven critical organizational
attributes, which when managed and led effectively, determine peak
safety performance in an organization: PURPOSE - VISION – VALUES –
PRINCIPLES - MISSION – STRATEGY and TACTICS.
Specific issues
addressed and explored in this seminar include:
-
The Transformation
process requisite to excellence.
-
The impediments to
excellence posed by traditional safety ‘Wiz-dumb’.
-
The common
denominator (and differentiating factor) of Leading Vs.
Managing.
-
The high
performance ‘Leader – Manager’ model of excellence.
-
The necessity to
take back ‘control’ of the causes of at-risk behaviors.
-
The hard numbers
case for safety excellence.
-
The ‘Biz-case’ for
goaling beyond ‘Zero Accidents”.
-
The dangerous
‘DISCONNECT’ that plagues safety measurement and management.
-
Determining the
Optimum ‘Cost of Safety’.

organization is uniquely designed to exactly produce the results
it achieves.” -- Peter Senge
